Canadian English Education Policy and Its Implication_英语论文

摘要

随着全球化的快速发展,不同国家之间的关系越来越密切,文化的交融不断加深,但文化冲突在一定程度上任然存在。语言是文化的载体,解决不同文化之间的语言问题,语言政策是解决语言问题的重要途径。

加拿大是一个典型的移民国家,也是一个多语言国家。虽然英语是加拿大的官方语言,但由于语言的多样性,英语作为主流文化载体的地位一直受到挑战。本文结合不同时期加拿大的经济、文化和政治背景,重点研究加拿大的英语教育政策,分析加拿大英语教育政策的独特性和启示,本文共分为四个部分,第一部分讲了加拿大在英属殖民地时期时采取的对法语和土著语言的同化政策;第二部分讲了加拿大联邦国家成立后的双语政策;第三部分讲了二战后加拿大语言政策的改变;第四部分讲了加拿大英语教育政策的启示。

通过研究发现加拿大英语教育政策的制定始终本着促进民族平等、维护国家团结统一这一原则。

Abstract

With the rapid development of globalization and the relationships between different countries are getting closer and closer. But at the same time, the conflict between different cultures has been intensified in the communication. Language is the carrier of culture. To resolve the conflicts between different cultures means a compromise between mainstream languages and other languages in a country or an area.

Canada is a typical immigrant country. There were a lot of languages existed in the history of Canada. Though the variety of its languages and the status of English as the carrier of the mainstream culture being challenged in history. English can always stay on a relatively controlling position, which is worth studying and learning from the aspect of national unity. This paper focuses on the English education policy of Canada combining the economic, cultural and political background of Canada in different periods, analyzing the uniqueness and enlightenment of the English education policy of Canada. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part tells the assimilation policy of French and indigenous languages adopted by Canada during the British colonial period. The second part introduces the bilingual policy after the establishment of the federal state of Canada. The third part talks about the change of Canadian language policy after world war Ⅱ. The fourth part tells the enlightenment of Canadian English education policy. The development of English education policy in Canada is guided by national interests, never stick to one pattern and dare to be innovative.
